Director: Miss Sibabalwe Sesmani, 28 (Age), Bachelor of Commerce (UJ, RSA)

At 28, Sibabalwe Sesmani is on a mission to change the landscape of media relations in South Africa and shift the way the world sees young black women.

Sibabalwe Sesmani “Siba” is a Director and sits on the Arigo Investments Africa Executive Board. She holds a BCom Economics & Econometrics Degree from University of Johannesburg, formerly RAU (Rand Afrikaans University). While completing her third year in 2013 at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa she was recruited for a graduate placement program by the Number One Tobacco company in the world in their marketing department.

In the same year she was the youngest and only undergraduate chosen to be part of 20 young women from around South Africa to participate in ABSA's Young Pioneering Women conference. She organizes monthly women's entrepreneurship breakfasts in Johannesburg.

The women's entrepreneurship breakfast seeks to close the gender gap for women entrepreneurs in certain industries, by bringing decision makers, industry players, together with the women entrepreneurs. Sibabalwe is the founder of a public relations and communications company called Unorthodox PR & Media Group (Pty) Ltd which focuses on providing her clients with media exposure to achieve their objectives.

In 2015 she also produced and co-hosted a 2-hour show on Maboneng Radio, called Open Wednesdays that interviewed entrepreneurs working in MABONENG Precinct of Johannesburg. She sits on the Phenomenal African Woman Board (PAWB); whose objective is to improve women's lives all over Africa. PAWB is headquarters are in Nigeria and she is the youngest member of the board.

In May 2019, she joined the Breaking Down Borders Africa team as their Communications Contractor.  The Breaking Down Borders Africa Initiative is a pan African platform led by African youth for the benefit of African youth. The initiative is inspired by the vision of creating an inclusive platform for African youth to collectively write the future of the continent, while promoting skills development and transfer amongst young Africans. Her role was liaising with media all over the continent and creating awareness about the 3-day youth summit. The summit was featured on national platforms in South African, Namibia, Swaziland, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Nigeria and other parts of the continent.

On September 2, 2019 she founded the #WithoutUS movement which was in response to Gender Based Violence and femicide in South Africa. The movement advocates for the economic emancipation of women as one of the solutions to curb gender-based violence in South Africa. The first activation on September 11 was a mass stay away encouraging women to stay away from work, schools, colleges and universities. The campaign went viral and received support in Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Kenya and other countries on the continent. This movement ushered in corporate companies such as Diageo SA closing its doors. African Star Communications, media programming as YFM female presenters refused to go to work and some (University of Cape Town) UCT classes being canceled as students and lectures stood in solidarity with the stay away. Since then she has been asked to participate in the newly conceptualized panel discussions on Talk Radio 702, keeping the awareness on Gender Based Violence alive.

Arigo Investments Africa is proud to have Siba on the Board to Champion Youth and Women in Africa.
